Leave the car behind – journey on the spectacular Cumbrian Coast Line to Ravenglass
Rising fuel costs and a deluge of green issues for the most ardent of motorists to counter mean that there has never been a better time to explore the stunning coastline of the Western Lake District by train.
Mountains and chocolate box imagery might be Lakeland’s trademark but by journeying by rail to Ravenglass a whole additional dimension to the Lake District rapidly unfurls, while everyone travelling, including the usually frustrated driver, can relax and soak up the panoramic landscape.
Regular trains and great savings make the train a winner
Whether you are holidaying in Morecambe or Grange-over-Sands, taking a short break in historic Carlisle, or resident in Preston or Maryport, all you have to do is buy a through ticket at any staffed station, or from the conductor on the train to include travel to the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. Better still, you will save £3.00 per adult and £1.50 per child on the price of normal combined fares. Even greater savings are available for railcard holders.
